Obituary

Winona Lee "Winnie" Miller, 76, of Camp Hill, formerly of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 29, 2024 at her home. Winnie, a cherished soul, was the devoted wife of the late John T. "Jack" Miller, who was the love of her life. The couple celebrated 51 years of wedded bliss until Jack's passing in 2020.

Born on the festive day of December 25, 1947, in Hanover, Winnie was the daughter of the late Raymond Harold and Norma Mae (Spangler) Eckard. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and hard work. A proud alumnus of Hanover High School, Class of 1966, she embarked on a career with Hanover Wire Cloth, dedicating 39 years of service, where she was a proud member of the Quarter Century Club. Her commitment to the community extended to Good Will, where she contributed many fruitful years before retiring in 2009.

Winnie 's heart was fullest when surrounded by her granddaughters, her precious jewels. An outdoor enthusiast, she found solace and joy in tending to her flower garden, embarking on camping adventures, and exploring the seas on cruises. Winnie also enjoyed going with her husband to carving shows and traveling to flea markets.

Her legacy continues through her daughters, Danielle K. Spila and her husband Joseph of Mechanicsburg, PA, and Nicole L. Miller, and her wife Cynthia Montgomery of Enola, PA. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Barry R. Eckard and his wife Barbara, Robert E. Eckard, and Candy L. Kopp, all of Hanover, as well as her six adored granddaughters, Eileen, Anne Marie, Kate, and Isabelle Spila, and Olivia and Kennedy Miller. She is also survived by her three best friends, Sandy Myers, Peach Staley, and Ethel Shievert and her beloved cat, Tiger.

In addition to her parents and husband, Winnie was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald W. Eckard.

A service to celebrate the life of Winnie L. Miller will be held at 10 am on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, PA with Rev. Fr. Philip Burger officiating. A time to share memories with the family and an opportunity to view will be on Saturday from  9 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hanover.

In lieu of traditional floral tributes, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Winnie 's memory to New Hope Ministries, 135 Baltimore St., Hanover, PA 17331.
